Microsoft Edge is about to lock out older ad blockers, just like Chrome did

The Verge reports that Microsoft Edge is ending support for the Manifest V2 extensions platform, which will disable ad blockers like uBlock Origin in the same way Google Chrome did earlier this year.

If you ship a browser extension or rely on one in your workflow, this closes off the last major Chromium holdout still tolerating Manifest V2, so plan any migration to V3 now rather than treating Edge as a fallback. For privacy-first products, it's worth checking whether V3's constraints on request blocking weaken the content-filtering guarantees your users expect. The practical takeaway is that Chromium-wide, V2 is effectively dead, and roadmaps should assume no reprieve.
